UPDATE: The process did go very quickly after that incident and I appreciate the help from my case worker on that note. I qualified for expedited service and she really came through, but I needed to get more paperwork in. I had a horrible time tracking down my landlord for the lease copy that I needed, but as soon as I could, I emailed my case worker all the necessary paperwork - that was about two weeks ago. I waited 24 hours, then gave her a call to see if she received everything but got no answer. Two weeks later, I have left 3-4 voicemails, called many times, and talked to the office three times only to be rudely told that she will leave my case worker a message. Clearly, the whole message thing isn't working and nobody will offer any additional help. I've been two weeks without groceries. I wouldn't be here if I didn't need it and I'm getting extremely frustrated. I don't know what I'm supposed to do if she just never returns my calls nor processes my paperwork. As if applying for the food assistance program isn't embarrassing enough, I returned a voicemail I received (only minutes prior) regarding my case and while speaking with the receptionist, was interrupted by ladies in the background amusedlly discussing where I work. The receptionist had to quickly mute the phone. I'm mortified. Hopefully, they get the little funny-bug out of their system and the rest of the process goes much more professionally. Incredibly embarrassing.

They show no real concern for those in need. They treat you as a case number instead of a person in need of help. This is not a out of pocket expense to them though it's treated as if they were the one who spends their money. When it's our taxes that pays them to help us..... Who really cares??????? They don't.
