Horrible experience. Customer service was atrocious. I waited for two weeks for a call. I called and emailed them several times and when i finally make contact they said they'd didn't know anything about the order. Another week goes by and they said that it might be another month. If you really need a proper fitting chair please go elsewhere.

These people really care about a person's mobility. Whatever aid you might need, they sell, support and fix them. Hugh, Chris, and indeed, the whole crew treat me like a human deserving of respect and prompt and fair service, seemingly a rarity in the disability community today.

Great conversation with salesperson. No pressure. No judgement.

After reading other reviews here, I really felt I needed to write a very different review for WoB. My experience here has been very different. From the first time I rolled in there, they have been nothing but courteous, gracious, and very informative. In particular both Amy and Amanda in the front office have been amazing. They have worked so hard to help me get a new power chair through my insurance, looking up information I needed, getting back to me promptly, and being incredibly supportive and empathetic through a very tedious process with my doctor - who messed up the referrals several times - and with the insurance company. They are even giving me a loaner chair until my new one is delivered! Thank you very much, WoB!

WCB has some wonderful people, the mechanics offer great service and really go above and beyond not only to solve your problem but also give you a great experience. Everything else about Wheelchairs of Berkeley is abysmal. Avoid the place if you can. I have been with them for almost fifteen years (a shop only services what they sell, so you can get stuck with a shop). I used to think they were bad, I had no idea. They have now gotten so bad, they are nearly useless to wheelchair users. Wheelchair users are flatly abused. That sounds silly, but let me elaborate. In the shop once, I saw a fellow who came in to pick up his new manual chair and the OT had gotten the order wrong. She out loud began to blame the customer for making the mistakes. Let me say this, if you use a wheelchair, it is a very important thing in your life. If you are fortunate enough to get a new one, you obsess over the details, it means a lot. Finally when you get it right you send the order. You do not get it wrong. The OT was horrible to this guy who meekly protested that no, he had been specific and his order had not been taken properly. The OT continued to blame him and he took it because where else could he go? WCB except for the great people working there as techs, is awful. If it weren't for some good folks who would be out of jobs, I would wish WCB out of business. They should not be doing business with disabled people. Ask around.
