While having a family member on Hospice is never a ideal situation and at times a very emotional. I wish I would of known more about Hospice when my loved one was sick with cancer. After learning so much about Catholic Hospice which is a non profit and has several free programs for their Hospice patients and families, I know I can trust them to uphold the best care and quality-of-life the unfortunate next time I might need their services. Thank you Catholic Hospice and thank you to all your staff.

This place is a shame, just like the other review giving a 1 star. My dad is in the hospital. Plans are to have surgery for a feeding tube in his stomach because he can no longer eat or drink anything. Can you imagine, after signing papers for hospice and signing papers for the surgery to be done, which was suppose to happen today. Stay in the hospital until hurricane Irma passes which is 3 days from now and then come home. That was the deal. Approved and all! So I thought. I got a call from a hospice nurse Jose saying that he was going to be transported to in patient hospice today, surgery was to be canceled and everything that was said yesterday was a lie! Everything was a complete lie. First of all, hospice through Medicare won't allow the patient to stay in the hospital more than a day. Surgery should of never been allowed and then the transfer to an inpatient vs home care! complete lies! That's all!

KEEP YOUR LOVED ONES AS FAR AWAY FORM HERE AS POSSIBLE. I had to give it 1 star to fd this review, too bad they dont have negative stars to review. It all started with their Latin female rep who names escapes me,went to the hospital in Coral Gables, all the False promises began there. "WE are a CATHOLIC Hospice" and "WE do not use Morphine to speed up the process of the patient passing", etc. etc. My relative was coherent and communicating before he got here. They gave him oxygen and placed him on Albuterol the following day (which accelerates the heart, therefore agitating him) when these clinic doctor they hire show up and said they are in discomfort. Immediately without reading the hospital charts or anything prescribes Morphine 3x per day. After the first shot my relative never woke up again. Again, the NEGLAGENCE shown by this place is incredible. As I requested to speak to a director of the place after the passing and the girl there shows up with person dressed in a uniform stating she was the manager. NEVER even saying one word mine you, because the office girl supposedly did all the talking. As I told her, if they read the charts they would have seen that when my relative was in ICU, they also gave him the Albuterol to find out they are having a bad reaction with it and gave them something similar but would not agitate the heart. Then here, they would also have read there was a no morphine request from the patients partner who again, per the rep, we are CATHOLIC Hospice, we do not induce death by morphine. Well to tell you the truth, they did and that shorten my family members life. As that office assistant said, what do you want me to do? I said do? they passed, BUT I would make sure that I would post everywhere possible on how this facility is a death trap to anyone coming in here. I also know all this happened because the nurse showed me the doctors orders for Morphine to be given 3x per day and I do not wish to get her into any trouble. She saw my relative was very coherent and saw their dismay after the morphine was administered. Catholic they aren't, because they contributed to their passing, something AGAINST the Catholics belief. Oh, don't forget you have to take your love one out within 4 hours after passing. Tick, Tock, time to get the next victim to come in and make more money. Also just to clarify, this happened last week and I had time to really cool down, do this review not out of hostility, But as a review to alert those who read a review like I did of this place and thought it would have been a good place to send my relative to. We walked out of there without anyone even saying anything to us. Give your loved ones as much time comfortably to live, keep them out of here.
