My mother has been in the independent living facility at the Fountains for about a year and a half. The experience has been wonderful for her. She is much more active and happier than when she lived alone. During the recent hurricane (Irma) the Fountains and its staff out did themselves. Not only did they take excellent care of my mother during difficult times, they did it in a way that made it as enjoyable as possible. The staff's frequent communication with relatives made the event less stressful for residents and relatives alike. Top ratings for facility and staff.

My Mother-in-law lives in the Fountains on the 7th floor and is 92 years old. They went two days with NO elevator service and today only one VERY TINY elevator that only fits maybe 6 people standing up. They are waiting from1 to 2 hours to get down stairs. This is a 20 story building. Bad enough that some of these people have not been able to get down stairs for food for three days - what if there was a medical emergency. This is a retirement center for God's sake! This place is horrible and can't wait to get my Mother in Law out of there. DO NOT put your loved one here, it's awful!!!!!!!~

I might recommend the Fountains as a last resort but not a first choice. The "Restaurant" style dining room means the residents wait from 15 to 45 minutes to be seated. My father has only eaten there a few times because his usual wait is around 20 to 25 minutes, which means he'll need to go to the bathroom at least once while he's waiting. The bathrooms aren't close so by the time he gets back he ends up having to wait again. Even when you can see that there are open seats. Breakfasts are a-la-cart with some pastries, coffee and occasionally some oatmeal, so don't think you're ever going to get a nice breakfast there. They do have a small "bistro" (which means very tiny cafe with no menu available). It's hit or miss because the staff in the bistro don't really like letting you know what's really available. I escorted my father down to Sunday breakfast his first day there and found out it's self-serve. By the time we got back to our table with a small bowl of oatmeal and a piece of bread, someone had moved his walker and taken our table stating that it was their table. We left, taking our bowls of oatmeal to the bistro and were told we couldn't get any eggs because of "the shortage". What shortage? I haven't seen an egg shortage in years. I've since found out that they only serve eggs in the bistro 3 days a week because of the "the shortage". Within his first month, he was sent to the hospital emergency room, was in the hospital for a little over a week and sent home with hospice care. When I returned 2 weeks later from work travelling out of state, there was a hospice crisis team staying with him that informed me I needed to accept that he was on his way out. They had my dad in a zombie like condition. I stayed in his room with him for almost 2 weeks and stopped the Zanax. His Dr, assigned by Bayada, the co-owners of the fountains took him off some meds since he was going to die anyway. Well, it's about 2 months later now and he's doing fine. At 90 with some dementia, he still needs assistance but is doing ok in independent living. There is a woman on the parking/valet crew that is very rude and impolite. She assigned us a parking spot and then 3 months later assigned it to someone else. She put a large sticker on my wifes driver side window stating she couldn't park in the front circle parking spaces and after assigning our spot to someone else, scraped the parking sticker off our car. She told my wife she would have to take it up with the Assistant Director, so I did. He told me he would look in to it and get back with me. I received a call from someone else on the matter and they said they would talk to the parking personnel and get back to me. Nothing yet. I could go on and on, especially about the two tiny elevators that are hit and miss whether they work or not, but I fear there will be ramifications from this post, ultimately harming my dad in some way. I just wouldn't pick this place again.

I work there through CareSouth as an CNA-private duty, I must say the staff is always very nice, and helpful. The residents I take care of enjoy being there and participating in the daily activities. The Fountains at BCB is one of the best senior living facilities, it is always my pleasure to take on a new client there.

Mom (87) has been at The Fountains for almost two years now, residing in the assisted living portion of the facility with dementia and edema. After living in the St. Pete's area for 35 years, Mom would not return to Chicago with me. I, her daughter who resides in the Chicago area was overwhelmed when Mom first became a resident at The Fountains. However, within weeks I knew this was the right place for her. Every time I call, Mom tells me "she is treated like a queen". Therefore, I am grateful to the staff who so lovely take care of her daily needs.
