Veterans and veteran supporters do not use or support this business. I was assigned by the VA to receive physical therapy from Interim Health Care and here's how they treated me. I understand when receiving in home health care the patient needs to be evaluated before the services start. On numerous occasions I would receive a phone call usually around 7-8pm by the Interim Health Care employee who does the evaluation being told she would be in my area the next day and wanted to evaluate me at 7:30am. I asked if she had a time later in the morning or afternoon or if we could schedule another day and was told no, that was the only day and time available. She told me she would call me next time she's in my area in a week or so. This happened three or four times. I have a spinal cord injury. When I get out of bed in the morning I need at least an hour to drink several cups of water so I do not become dizzy before I can start my day. This is a result of my spinal cord injury, if I do not drink water in my first hour I pass out. I called the main office and explained this to several employees being told they cannot schedule an evaluation at any other time but 7:30am. Additionally, they could not schedule in advance an evaluation due to the employees schedule being told its industry standards to call the night before. I've had in home physical therapy from other companies and they all were very accommodating with scheduling in advance and at a mutually agreeable time. Not Interim Health Care, it's 7:30am or not at all. What's really amazing one of Interim's employees LIED to the VA telling them I cancelled several appointments. How can I cancel an appointment when I couldn't schedule an appointment? I was never able to schedule an appointment. What's really troubling is I left a voice message for Lisa the manager who never retuned my phone call, how unprofessional. In my voice message to Lisa I explained my need to drink water for an hour after getting out of bed and into my wheelchair or I could pass out. I also told Lisa I cannot dress myself and require help from my caregiver who dresses me and helps get me into my wheelchair. I have to be considerate to my caregiver and could not ask her to get up at 6am to give me a bath, get me dressed and into my wheelchair for a 7:30am appointment. No return phone call from Lisa, what an example of the type of employees Interim uses. How rude, disgusting and inconsiderate. I contacted the VA and scheduled with a "professional" company who gladly scheduled my evaluation a week in advance and at a mutually agreeable time. Sorry Interim, you lost out on at least $1500 to $3000 of government money. I also recommended the Atlanta VA stop using Interim Health Care. Shame on Interim Health Care, shame on the Interim Health Care employee who lied to the VA and shame on Lisa the manager at Interim Health Care. Veterans and non veterans receiving home health care please be careful, most of these in home health care companies will ask the patient to sign a blank time sheet with the employee saying they will fill in the hours at a later date. I am not accusing Interim of doing this, how could I seeing I was never able to schedule an appointment. I've had this happen three times with other companies but refused the request. Also, it's common for therapist to arrive late due to traffic which I understand, the problem is they still leave at the scheduled time although they did not provide the full hours worth of therapy. If the therapist is late they should stay longer to meet the agreed therapy time or only give them credit for the actual time they worked. Remember, this is why insurance rates are high.
