My mom has Alzheimer's and she had fallen and broken her hip, three months ago. When she was released from rehab, she was put on hospice with Alliance. The doctor that directed her rehabilitation center/nursing home was also the medical director of Alliance. Alliance only offered 3 visits Monday - Friday with a CNA to help her get a bath and get dressed, and one visit by a nurse. The CNA staff was very nice and helpful. The nurse that admitted my mom the first night was extremely nice. However, the nurse that was assigned to my mom was very "gruff" and sort of rude. I asked several times if I couldn't get more help; because I had a bad back from a motorcycle accident, several years ago. I was told after several request, that this was all they offered. I was concerned; because I was afraid I would hurt my mom or myself transferring my mom from the bed to the wheelchair. I would be responsible for transferring my mom in and out of bed by myself 4 days a week and 7 nights a week. A friend of mine mentioned her grandmother was on Hospice with MSA Hospice, and the CNA's visited her grandmother twice a day and the nurses twice a week. This sounded too good to be true. However, I called MSA Hospice immediately and 9 weeks later, I couldn't be happier! :) The CNA's are amazing and the nursing staff is incredible! They listen to your concerns and they not only care about the patient but the caregiver, as well. They got me a lift the first day to help with transfers, a bar above my mom's bed, and a fall mat. I didn't ask for any of this but the nurse actually listened to my concerns; which Alliance did not. MSA offered these items to help with the care of my mom. I had also requested a gel cushion for my mom's wheelchair; because she was in so much pain while sitting. Over a week later, with Alliance, my mom still didn't have the cushion. MSA ordered the cushion on her first day and she received it her second day on Hospice with MSA. It was only after I transferred to MSA, did an administrator/office manager (I forgot what she said her actual position was titled) called me to ask why I wanted to leave their services, less than two weeks after we started with them. I stated it was because MSA could provide 12 visits in a 5 day period and they could only provide 4 days of service. At this time, Alliance offered to come out once or twice more a week. I told Alliance, it's too little too late! The person from Alliance said with a cocky attitude, "I doubt they will come out everyday in the morning and every evening for "Tuck in Service", no one does that!" Surprise, surprise Alliance, MSA CNA's have been out twice a day without fail. The nurses have also been out twice a week like clockwork. They always call and ask if they can come out and they give an estimated time of arrival! I ? you MSA Hospice!!'

My father was under hospice care through Alliance, until his death. The care he received was exceptional! The staff were professional and supportive of Dad's family and friends. I recommend Alliance for anyone in need of superb ,knowledgeable care while coping with illness and end of life issues.
