I mailed the following letter: October 16, 2018 Director of Services North Hawaii Community Hospital 67-1125 Mamalahoa Hwy Waimea, HI 96743 Following my five-day stay last week, I feel compelled to make the following comments: I would like to commend the entire staff at North Hawaii Community Hospital for thoughtfulness and compassionate care, and their most effective performance of duties. I was pleased with the attention I received from the physicians, and especially from the Nursing Staff. I will not name individuals because all of them did an outstanding job. I have been hospitalized all over the US and abroad in my 82 years, including Walter Reed, Bethesda NNMC, Colorado General, and others. This was the absolute best hospital experience of my life. Sincerely, Gil Taylor

My dad was admitted here for his stroke and everyone here took great care of him they also recommended a great facility in Oahu for his physical therapy...my mom stayed with him the whole time and they treated her with great respect and always asked if she needed anything...I will highly recommend this hospital for anyone....

Sorry to say I had a poor quality experience I arrived at 9am as directed for outpatient surgery The pre op room did not take me in until 10:30am My outpatient surgery was scheduled for 10am to 12 noon However the hospital had failed to collect in advance the necessary instruments which my ENT doctor required for a nasal polypectomy The surgery was thus delayed until 2pm and took until 5pm to complete The post op treatment was rushed and not of good quality In the end I spent the night in another hospital 's emergency room to have help controlling the bleeding and releasing the stress weakness engendered by the poor quality operating experience Perhaps such nasal polypectomy surgery should not be done as out patient but require at least a one night hospital stay The medical doctor Venu Divi was in the end very skillful and well trained The poor quality experience due only to the hospital Henry Wolgemuth

The staff were all very kind and attentive. I was in the ER which was full and had to be on a gurney in the hallway, but it was better than being kept in the waiting room until a spot opened. They really should build a new hospital here....plenty of space and the building could use the modern and spacious areas as well. But the staff was great. Can't complain.
