Dishonest, Misleading About Their Policies, Rude Customer Service. I contacted this office, which was referred to me by my health insurance, for a free breast pump. On the phone they said it was no problem--come by the office today.I had my OB's office fax my info over. After the drive across town, I was told in person that no, in fact, they could not issue a breast pump until 30 days before my due date (despite the fact that I told them my due date on the phone). Today (30 days before my due date) I contact the office again, only to be told that my health insurance won't cover the breast pump after all. (First of all, they got the health insurance wrong, but after verifying my correct account, reaffirmed that I could not get a free breast pump from their office.) Not sure what changed in the 3-ish months since both Via Christi AND my health insurance said no problem. Now I'm stuck trying to find another provider, one that honors their policies without changing all the time--and one that doesn't put their callers on a 10-minute hold loop and then hang up on the callers!

The actual medical service is very good, but I have had so much trouble with the billing and operator service on the phone. The billing service doesn't show payments made on their bill and then you pay the total they show, and your next bill shows a credit. Then I get another bill showing I owe from 3 months ago, and I show the check has cleared the bank with their endorsement on it. I tried to reach the billing department by phone, and first was connected to a voice message saying that was a non-existence number. I called back and went thru all the phone prompts and finally got to an operator who told me the only way I could talk to a billing person was by leaving a voice mail. When you are dealing with a lot of senior citizens who find it difficult to explain their problem to a recording, you might help us by letting us talk to a real person. Our bill will not be paid until we can have the billing department correct the bill and send us a bill showing our actual payment due. I know our future home medical needs will not be thru Via Christi, as this has been a very frustrating experience.
