    My wife and I have lived here for over 4 years now. Two of my sisters have moved here also, as we have more time for reach other. Our families are busy with their own lives. I have not been disappointed in any way. The opportunities for growth are all around. The employees are friendly as they do for us what we used to do for ourselves when we lived in our own homes. We do have employees who have been here a long time. What a blessing that is for us.

    If you cannot find the club that matches your interests (there are over 300 clubs we're told) you can start one of your own at Charlestown. You'll have an immediate prospect field of over 2000 inquiring-minds to tell your story to. Or you can stay to yourself and read a book, or pitch horse shoes, play Bocce, shoot billiards, join the Stage, do art, sing, dance, play cards, sail model boats, play golf, tennis and pickle ball. Knit. Sew, be a resident council member, or play cards. Have pet? bring it with you. Do stuff you have always wanted to do but were too busy to take it up.

    My Mom has been in Dorsey for rehab for 3 days now and I am not impressed. She's supposed to have 3 breathing treatments a day. She had none the 1st day, 1 the second day and yesterday, I finally asked why she hadn't had any that day. It was 7pm. The nurse that came in seemed not to care at all. Just a lot of oh really, hmm, let me check on that. The staff seems apathetic at best. For all the money she's spending living there, you'd think she'd be getting excellent care. Instead, we have to stay on top of them just to get them to do their jobs. **Update - Day 4 and things changed drastically. Maybe it was emotions on my part thinking the staff didn't care. Maybe people were having a bad few days. Whatever the reason, they stayed on top of things and her round the clock. Now that she's back in her own place, they'll actually come to her for her needs. I hope I'm lucky enough to live there when the time comes.

    My Father was a resident at Charlestown for the last 3 years of his life. He had an independent living apartment that was lovely! He enjoyed many activities and the food. As his health declined, he moved into the Assisted Living building which looks like a 5 star hote with gorgeous balconies and courtyardl. Following several surgeries he recovered at "Dorsey" which is the rehab section and although that building is old, the staff was excellent. In fact, the staff in ALL departments are very caring and respectful. The last few weeks of his life were in the Long Term Care (nursing) section. Again, very old building (but the new building is under construction) but the staff was great. Some staff members had accents that made communication a bit difficult but all were carin and respectful. Anytime we had an issue in any section, management was on it for a resolution. The "billing" department has struggled a bit in making corrections to some bills. The "move out coordination" could use improvement. But overall, this is a beautiful community where the staff serves the residents with dignity and respect. They often had so much live music and my Father loved that. As it became more difficult for him to read or follow a TV show, the one thing he could still enjoy was music and they always had terrific live musical groups. I will miss visiting my Father there at Charlestown.

    Worst job I ever had! Managers have their favorites, are very un-professional, un-organized dining rooms, worst cleaning environment I ever worked in. If your not someone who's been here for 2, 3 or 16 years you will be treated so unfairly. Was entitled to free meal each shift received it 1/10 of the time, ate leftovers or there were no leftovers because chefs through them all away. Cooks & managers did not care if we ate at all! All servers complained. Chef's can NOT read directions/cook orders correctly. Too many kids running around not working, dirty silverware, sections not swept, rolls always hard, residents are very rude, inconsiderate & boss us servers around. Won't recommend anyone.
