I was assured we could purchase a wheelchair prior to the first of the year and have it paid by insurance since our out of pocket was met for the year. Instead they billed it as a rental. It was a Drive brand Cruiser III regular push type wheelchair which sells on Amazon for $159. They were billing United Health Care $111.99 PER MONTH. That comes to over $1300 per year for a $159 wheelchair.

In April, 2009, I signed a contract with Great Lakes Home Medical for sleep apnia equipment. I was ASSURED that my insurance would cover the related costs and that the company they contracted with was accepted by MI Blue Cross. After discovering I'd been misinformed, I returned all equipment shipped to me and terminated my contract. Great Lakes Home Medical assured me they would take care of this problem and I would not owe any money to their contracted service company. The company they contract with... S.U.P.P.O.R.T Program in Rochester, MN continues to attempt to collect from my health insurance plan. I have made three subsequent visits to Great Lakes Home Medical with notices from Blue Cross in my hand explaining that payment has been denied. I haven't authorized continued billing to my insurance and I have demanded freedom from future involvement. I am now going to launch a letter writing campaign to file complaints about both of these companies. I would not recommend either Great Lakes Health or their S.U.P.P.O.R.T program!
