Had to go to the pediatric unit and they took us quickly and were very nice. I liked that the unit had its own x-ray section we we didn't have to walk all over the hospital to get an X-ray done. Overall, I'd definitely go back to this hospital.

Stay away. Last time my mother, whose a chronic pain patient from years of multiple illnesses, went to this dump they did not administer her pain medications (most important her patch) as prescribed. Instead, her untreated ESRD/Dialysis and the pain from a severe accident which has left her unable to walk was left untreated (and the patch unchanged) for more than 36 hrs. The pain was so intense the day she was supposed to leave she had an episode with her heart and had to stay for further observation. They blamed their software which "kicks out" prescriptions after a certain period. This seems to be more a reaction to the NJ dept of Health complaint than a 'valid reason'. And apparently no one is competent enough to replace the software or have the Dr or Nurse ensure it's put back in the system since, ya know, the patient is still physically and legally in your care. Unless you're dragged to JFK, stay away! This is not isolated, she's been admitted many times and we have repeated issues with incompetency here. The main ER Dr. we've had the misfortune of dealing with time and again has repeatedly tried to discharge my mother because she's a complex case, leading to many readmisdions. This Hospital should be shut down by the state.

I would have gladly given JFK a 4 or even 5 star rating, but yesterday when I was in recovery from a lumbar puncture (not serious, but hey I was stabbed 3 times before a physician thought they should perform the procedure under x-ray), one of this institutes nurses made a RUDE comment. I asked about going back to work and the nurse attending to me asked what I did and I said "I work in an office". Another nosey nurse responds "that's nothing, all she does is lift a pen". Excuse the hell out of me, but how low and disrespectful can a nurse get. It took every fiber in my body to not react because there were others recovering from more serious procedures than my "pen-pushing" behind. Also, someone forgot to ask me what I'm allergic to (iodine) and it was used during my first procedure. I take some responsibility for not even thinking about it when it was used. Beyond that, kudos to Resident Dr Fisher and Attending Dr Mistry (Minstry) for performing my procedure!

Worst nurses and doctors in the state. They also overcharge you so make sure to pay close attention to your bills and question everything. I would rather die than end up there again!!!
