NEVER AGAIN will I fall for the VNA hospice sales pitch. I was taken by their empty promises. The nurse had a cold demeanor and zero compassion. My mother was NOT complaining of pain but the FIRST thing the nurse did was to try to drug her. It was awful. Folks, stand up for your loved ones. Don't let a pit bull nurse run the show. Please God, forgive me for choosing the VNA Hospice "business."

We had the VNA hospice. I have talked with several folks who went through hospice with their families at home - with other agencies - and they all talk of how the nurses were compassionate, kind and caring. Sadly, this was not the case with us. The nurse the VNA sent us said very little to our mom on her first visit. She never asked her how she felt but she went right to that little white box that the VNA sent us and got out some medicine and tried to force it on our mom. The nurse never told us what she was doing. She showed no interest in mom's food or regular medicines. She was abrupt and condescending. She "knew" when mom would die and, on each visit, she made her God-like prediction. (She was wrong.) After a few visits from this nurse, we had had enough and planned to either replace her or change agencies but it was too late. Now we carry the guilt of "exposing" our precious mother to the unprofessional and heartless care from this "nurse" in her final days.

ZERO STARS!!! My relative had the VNA hospice care. When the nurse came to our home to pronounce him dead she placed the pulse oximeter on his finger. I asked her what it revealed and she said, "Oh forget about it." Then she giggled. So I ask the VNA: Is this the way you train your nurses to pronounce someone dead when grieving family members are present? Is it a joke to you?
