I have at times received decent medical care here....BUT! 1. I was charged over $700 for four generic 4 mg ondansetron orally dissolving tablets dispensed by the ER. Ten of these can be purchased at a local pharmacy for under $10-20. I did not need the medication in the first place, and was never advised regarding the cost, which was not covered by insurance (I'm sure they recognized this was an absolutely inappropriate charge). I issued a complaint to the GRMC patient liaison, but to no effect. Hardly a patient advocate... works for the Hospital, paid by the Hospital, and serves the interests of the Hospital! Another smiling sweet-talker! 2. Another GRMC bill was recently turned over to a collection agency without any prior notice.... no bills sent to me, no letter of warning.....nothing. My account was and remains paid up-to-date. I've spoken with the billing office, confirming their mistake, and assured this will be corrected. I certainly was not offered an an explanation, let alone an apology. 3. My son was recently admitted to the behavioral unit for treatment. He was attended by a traveling (locums) psychiatrist. This "gentleman" was rude, arrogant, condescending, presumptuous and possibly medically incompetent . A report was made to the Department, and, reportedly, an investigation is in progress. We'll see... There are banners at the hospital entrance bragging of GRMC's "excellence"... top this, top that. My understanding is that medical facilities pay a fee to receive these accolades. Thus their legitimacy is highly questionable. The Google reviews surely are not compatible with a top-performing facility.

This is the place that's all over the news with a special on the doctors aiding and abedding police as they illegally search a guy's anus and force him to go under the knife. Yeah I'm surprised this hospital system isn't shut down. Feel free to look up the report. :-) It's titled " Victim in controversial anal probing case releases statement". That violates the Hippocratic oath for forced I Unlawful surgeries.

Today was the third time I had an encounter with the outpatient radiology department. After being called to schedule my test, I wait 6 weeks for my appointment because I had the same test last year and was told I had to wait. OK Arrive on time and instead of being greeted, I was rudely directed to another window where no one was sitting. I apparently interrupted a very important conversation about a dog. After filing out the form, with name, time of appt. and time of arrival, I waited to be called. The registrar called me over, never made eye contact, never smiled, slammed paperwork all of the desk and finally asked me for $277.02 for a test that is covered 100% by my insurance. After getting my wrist band, I sat down and waited. 43 minutes! I stepped to the desk to inquire about how much longer and was informed that my appt was scheduled for 930am not 8. Why would you not tell me that when I signed in and informed you that I had an 8 am appt. Oh could that be your were too busy socializing? So I wait and while I am waiting I witness some of the WORST ever patients service, people being condescending, ignoring patients standing right in front of them, rude tone of voice and just plain ignorant behavior. EXCEPT for the patient who dropped down from her office in the building, You would have thought the Queen of England was in the house when she arrived, polite, quick and courteous service for her. After finally being called for my test, I was informed it was not the test I thought and was in fact a diagnostic to check for a lump in my breast. That is a discussion for the doctor, however why did I have to wait 6 weeks? Luckily for me, the lump is not anything new, if it had been something to be further investigated I would have been 6 weeks delayed in getting treatment. Avoid this hospital at all cost.
