This is my second rehab stay and I am grateful for the kind and warm nursing , rehab, and doctor staff. although its not home, I feel my 3 broken bones wont be my limitation!!! They believe in me, comfort me , encourage me not matter how anxious I get. The nursing aides work hard, and when I watch, its so nice to see them hold peoples hands and try to please so many people. I cant use my arms , and the staff make sure I look okay and presentable. The cleaning staff, sorry I dont know their title, are alwysa moving, mopping, dusting and are kind. I love the entertainment and socials. The food is really good too.I gained 10 pounds. I do hope to go home soon but I know Im in good hands

I was in Parker for 2 months in June and July. I had a pretty horrible experience. Will be reporting experience to Medicaire. Buzzers are not answered sometimes for 4-5 hours. I urinated in the wheelchair and on the floor while I was screaming for help. They do not answer phones at front desk; my son and I tried calling and everyone leaves the desk for long periods of time. Always there should be someone at the desk. The doctors barely come to see patients, only if you scream. I had an upper respiratory infection and then an infection in my eye. Most importantly, they do not have enough help. Sometimes they only had one aide on the third floor. They had to borrow help from another floor. One day, there was no nurse on duty. They had to call an off-duty nurse to come in who worked through 2 shifts. I also had to help my 92-year old roommate on many occasions. I found out that Medicaire had been at the home for one week doing inspections. Throughout that week they had extra people working and extra supplies. As soon as they left, everything disappeared. Many times morning medicine is not given until afternoon. Patients require their medicine on time, especially hypertension medicine. Some nurses have attitude problems when you tell them off about the situation. We lost the air conditioning for about 5 hours. No one came into patients rooms to check on them. The only good about the home was the terrific therapy and when the buzzers were answered, most of the aides were very kind and caring. Also, to pour salt on my wounds, it has been 2 months since I left and the home has not returned my monies from my expense account. They said check was lost in the mail and would take another month to cut another check; however, my son asked them how come I received a bill from them but not my check? They shut up with no answer. Pleased do not send your loved ones to Parkerinstitute. You are putting their lives in jeopardy. Linda Movtady

******Do Not send your love one here the place is dirty the nursing care is horriable... They force your love ones to were a diapers the adminstration / social work and nurse manger are clueless staff is rude the place smells like urine. They never clean the rooms minus the 1floor. Pt who can walk are forced to sit in wheelchairs and wait days for PT to start. Please run from this place. It needs to be shut down. It is not apart of northwell system they just happen to share the lot space.

My grandfather's stay there was a horrible experience. No matter what time of the day that you call to check on your loved ones, no one answers the phone. I actually had to contact another nurse's station just so they can send someone to tell them to pick up. The evening that I finally got a hold of someone, they were rude when I complained & hung up the phone on me when I asked to speak with the nurse manager. The evening that I came to visit, I observed 3 staff members sitting at the nurse's station while a patient's call bell was going off. I got mad after 5-10 minutes & asked them if no one was going to move & find out what the patient wanted. The nurse & the "new" nurse (first day on the job) didn't answer the call bell either! My grandfather came there for rehab on a Friday & ended up being intubated in the ICU by Tuesday for aspiration pneumonia due to the negligence of the staff. When I came to make a complaint, the nurse manager had the nerve to ask me if my grandfather had a stroke that I didn't know about. This facility needs to either re-train their staff in professsionalism when speaking on the phone & when dealing with patient's & their families. They also need to get better staff that actually have compassion & not just coming to work for a paycheck!

Sadly I did not see these reviews until it was too late. My mom was in for 8 days and I had to remove her after she fell. She has dementia and was in for rehab after being hospitalized for 15 days, as she had trouble walking. After calling them their emergency number the day before (after walking in an finding her halfway in a wheel chair that she managed to get in herself, they still did nothing to prevent her from getting out of bed and falling. They aids and nurses try their best but they do not have enough staff or equipment at night to monitor everyone, especially if they cannot help themselves.
