My Grandmother has been in the facility for less then 48 hours and I am already having MAJOR issues. I am gonna say that I hope it is a one time incident. However untill that is proven true, I am going to look to have her moved. Very disappointing! It is simple common sense things that make a world of difference when it comes to patient care. If you have a patient who requires a bed pan.... maybe leave extra sheets in the room so they are not laying in there own filth for over an hour. If you have a patient with a broken pelvis, maybe don't ask them to be rolling around the bed, or leave them unattended in the bathroom for hours to the point that they are forced to walk themselves to there own wheelchair, risking another fall. As a caretaker of the injured and disabled myself, I do not expect people to go above and beyond. I understand how this world works. However regardless of how much you get paid, or if you like your job or not, I do expect some effort, thought and attention to be given to the job that you have chosen to undertake. The pure lack of empathy, knowledge of your patients, and even basic communication / organizational skills that I have seen to date is deplorable. While I am sure this is not a reflection of all who work at this facility, I am extremely perturbed at what I have seen so far. I hope to be proven wrong and later come back to correct my review, however I do not see it changing any time soon. The place seems clean and well maintained thought.... thank goodness for that!

DO NOT VOLUNTEER HERE! Parker Jewish Institute is a horrible establishment for your adolescent to do volunteer work. Even though the Volunteer Director is extremely helpful and friendly, the rest of the staff here is atrocious. They all appear to hate their jobs which results in them putting their frustrations on the volunteers. An example of this is seen in therapists like Rosie and June who do not take the time to learn the names of their volunteers. The occupational therapist Rosie yells at volunteers when she is frustrated with her job, and in any case always has to be right. The environment at Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation is very hostile for children. The staff is discourteous, indolent, and disrespectful. Do not take the chance to send your child here, but instead find them another opportunity. They will be miserable and come home in tears after volunteering here.

If you have another option use it. Stay far away from Parker. You can press the call button for an aide to take you to the bathroom and if you are lucky someone will come within an hour. They are apathetic and don't care about the patient. The food is terrible. The doctors rarely make rounds. It's impossible to talk to the nurses or other medical staff. They make mistakes with medicines. The only good thing I can say is the physical therapy department is excellent. Everything else is awful.

HORRIFIC CARE! The compassion and attention to patients (at least on 3N) has been horrible. Nurses roll their eyes when you ask for help, everyone passes the buck and wheelchairs are rolled into walls. My mother was left in a wheelchair for over 7 hours. She had to call home so we could contact someone because not one person responded to her call button. My mother is not a demanding woman. It took me 40 minutes to get a hold of an operator and be connected to someone on the floor. It then took them over 25 minutes to get to my mother. This place looks beautiful and modern on the outside, but is a nightmare inside.

My family's experience with Parker has been nothing but positive. The food was good, the attention was genuine and caring. It seems like a warm, family atmosphere. I'd recommend Parker.
