    After hearing that Senior Independence was owned by Breckenridge Village, I was excited when I received an interview which was followed by a job offer. They agreed to employ me full time, and I was thrilled despite the fact that they were paying me $3.00/hour less than my last job where I was working 50 hours/week. After being trained for only three days, (for about 5 hours per day,) I started working on my own. This is where the true mess began. On my first day I was sent to four client's homes, where there was no care plan available to me (this would normally be kept in a binder at the residence, or on the electronic device provided to me for work.) I would only be given a time, a name, and an address. This pattern continued on for just short of three months. I had many times where clients or family members were yelling at me because of a mistake that was made by people in the office. I frequently called the office to ask about what the visit should include, (i.e. shower, meal preparation, laundry and cleaning services, companionship, length of visit.) None of the information was ever readily available to me as an aide, i always had to call the office for any information, and they quickly grew tired of my frequent calls, (even though I was always told the info was in my device or in a binder at the clients house.) I frequently asked how other employees and people above me in the office automatically knew which clients needed what services at what time of the day, despite the fact that it wasn't actually written anywhere, and the response was always that I would eventually become familiar with everyone's routines, and not to worry about it. After 88 days of employment I was fired without warning for "communication issues." They wouldn't be any more than specific than that. I have never been fired in my life, and have not been fired since this unfortunate incident. Basically what I have learned through the grapevine is that this company will hire and fire people according to their census, and will find reasons to fire newly hired employees when their census goes down, (or when patients die.) I was hired and promised 40 hours a week and never received more that 19 hours/week the whole time I was employed. I was fired from this company over two years ago, and this situation still weighs heavily on my mind. I would never want any of my family members to receive the type of disorganized service that they provide, which I have seen firsthand. This company constantly causes friction between caregivers and clients which causes a stressful experience for the employee and the customer due to lack of effort. I never even tried to get unemployment, because I was so taken aback by the fact that I was actually fired from a job, which I will reiterate, has never happened in my life.
