I'm very glad to have Southern Coos Hospital, to have an option for an emergency to I don't have to drive an hour to get medical attention when it's urgent. They are a good place for a blood draw, and they treated my mother well when we had to go in because she had gotten severely dehydrated and had an internal infection. I've always been treated professionally and promptly. I had to edit this, as getting the results from my blood tests took over a month and three phone calls. My instructions for sending the results to myself and to an outside doctors office were ignored until I called. In the final effective phone call, my request over the phone was hopefully going to be followed, but now I wonder if she's actually going to verify that I did request this (which I did, over a month ago) or if she's going to fax the results to the other provider based on my phone call. Whatever. An apology and some mild feeling that the mistake was recognized as such would have been helpful, but was not present at all.

Visiting Bandon, unfamiliar with this hospital but had to go to the ER for a heart issue. All the staff was caring, warm, professional, and skilled. The doctor was attentive and friendly. They resolved my issue in a timely way and even made sure I had some breakfast brought to me when I mentioned I was hungry. I would recommend them to anyone.

I think the angry person below isn't admitting everything that happened. If a doctor is calling you and telling you that they don't appreciate how you're talking to their staff, then maybe you're the problem. Own up to your nasty behavior. If you want to blame Dr. Pense, then blame HIM but don't drag the whole hospital under because you're angry. Mostly, the nurses and techs at Southern Coos Hospital have been really good to me. Sure, there have been a few times the receptionist might have been a bit grumpy or the nurse was hurried but that's any hospital that you go to. Overall, my experiences have been good when getting blood drawn or when I had questions about a bill. I'd give it 5 stars if they had more services and a nicer ER. Everyone gets crammed into a small space. The interior of the reception area has been remodeled and it looks really nice but the hospital needs to expand.

I got food poisoning and went to Southern Coos Hospital. I thought that they were responsive and competent. The administrative person entered all my information. The nurse confirmed it. The doctor listened. He did what I wanted -- he gave me an IV for re-hydration, including some anti-vomiting medication -- and he also had the technician take blood to make sure I was overall OK and did not have some other problem. The nurse installed the IV, they told my driver how long it would take, and then I dozed and received the IV. Two hours later I was released, full of the IV, with a prescription for some more anti-vomiting pills, and a statement that my blood was OK. I was thankful that the Hospital was there (and open 24 hours) and that the people there were so helpful. (I worry that this kind of small hospital will not be able to exist if any of the Republican "health care" -- actually, tax cuts for the very rich -- bills pass. Please help make sure that small hospitals like this can stay open.)

Has anyone received big bills from this hospital or its emergency room docs?
